The Six Flags corporation is working to sell off several of their theme parks while the new "management" works to reverse the financial mess the former "management" created under Premier parks. Mark Shapiro, CEO, is aiming to turn the Six Flags parks into more family-friendly parks, and letting go of poor performing parks or those that are geared more toward thrill-seekers than families.
There was an article in the San Antonio Express News recently in which the paper interviewed Mr. Shapiro with regard to Fiesta Texas in San Antonio. The following is an excerpt from that article:
"It has already announced it's in talks with investors to sell six of its parks — Six Flags Darien Lake outside Buffalo, N.Y., Six Flags Waterworld in California, Six Flags Elitch Gardens in Denver, Wild Waves and Enchanted Village outside Seattle, Six Flags Splashtown in Houston, and SIX FLAGS MAGIC MOUNTAIN and HURRICANE HARBOR near Los Angeles.

Whether the park will be sold intact, to be run by another company, or whether it will be closed and cleared for other development remains to be seen. But either way, when that happens it will no longer be a Six Flags park.
