Question:
Best way to make reservations for Blue Bayou at Disneyland?
2007-12-07 18:04:10 UTC
I tried calling the number, but they said they were all booked up. What happens to all the people at the park that day who show up to make reservations, are all just turned away? What to do? Is there a better restaurant at either California Adventure or Disneyland?

If you called the number and they are all booked then there will be no walk up reservations taken that day. They stopped that when Priority Seating Reservations were set up; well let me rephrase that, you can make same day reservations, but Blue Bayou books so fast there is a slim chance of getting one. You can go and wait at the restaurant for a table without a reservation, that still is an option. But you could stand to wait up to an hour at the most. There are a few other nice restaurants you could go to, but they won't have the ambiance that Blue Bayou has.

California Adventure has a nice restaurant if you are looking for upscale, romantic. It is called The Vineyard Room. I have not eaten there personally, but I have heard from a lot of regular park goers that it has good American style food and the prices are moderate.

For a more casual, but still really nice restaurant, Ariel's Grotto in DCA is a possibility. You can request to sit out by the water and watch the water, people, and/or roller coaster. They have a set price for all the food, like $23. That includes appetizer, entree, dessert and drink. They have an awesome Churro dessert with ice cream and chocolate and caramel syrup, yum!

If price is not too much of an issue, Hook's Pointe at the Disneyland Hotel is good. It serves seafood and steak mostly. It also has a romantic feel and if you have never been over to the Disneyland Hotel, it is beautiful.

Another steakhouse at the Disneyland Hotel is Steakhouse 55. Good food, but is on the high side cost wise as well. Not as romantic, but a nice contemporary restaurant.

(714)781-DINE ... if you want to eat at a specific place always call at least 2-3 weeks before your trip. Then you can guarentee you can eat at the restaurant at the time you want. Have fun!

A little over a year ago Disneyland went to an all Priority Seating Reservation system for the Sit Down Resturants. So the days of having some tables left open at the Blue Bayou for Walk-Ups are long gone. However, it depends on the day you go you MAY still be able to get a time. But note that when they are full, they are actually over-booked. So on a day like this you may end up waiting 20-40 minutes past your time to get a table even with a Priority Seating time. Again all of this depends on how many people did actually show up.

Now, sometimes people are nice enough to cancel their reservations. So in the morning you are there check with the Blue Bayou and see if there are any openings from last minute cancellations. Then depending on how many they did actually book, they may allow Stand-By reservations. The problem here is that they will not guarantee you a table and won't usually give you an estimated time. You have a better chance at this by trying anyhere from the afternoon to Early Evening rather than 1 hour before they stop serving. But they have this option expect to wait anywhere from 30 mintutes to 2 hours.

Now as for different resturants. The Blue Bayou by far has the best Ambiance, but the food can be hit or miss. Other resturants to try in Disneyland is Cafe Orleans it is right across from the Blue Bayou and you can sit either inside or outside. One disadvantage to this place is that if you sit outside and they have a band playing it can make conversations next to impossible.

In California Adventure there is the Vinyard Room which is the niceset resturant in that park. Also, if you are going when the Electircal Parade is running and can get a table to overlook the parade it is a very unique vantage point. But as with the Blue Bayou these times will book fast. People mentioned Arials Grotto. This is an okay resturant if you want Character Dining. But if Character dining is not what you want, for the price you can do much better at other resturants.

Probably the best(and by far most expensive) resturant in the resort is Napa Rose in the Grand Californian. This is a 5-Star resturant and you can expect to spend from $80+ per person. Also in the Grand Californian is Storytellers Cafe which is also a good choice.

The best way to make a reservation is through 714-781-DINE. There is a chance to get a into the Blue Bayou but it's stand by only. Meaning, you might have to wait 30-45 mins. for a table. But one time we were turned away because they were booked

There are other restaurants at the Resort. You can always exit the park with a hand stamp and enjoy the restaurants in Downtown Disney or at the hotels. All are really good to eat at.

Well. If you wanted to reserve a spot at the Blue Bayou, then I hope you know that the Blue Bayou is the most expensive place in Disneyland.

Well, a few places i suggest would be the Plaza Inn and Cafe Orleans in Disneyland. In California Adventure, Ariel's Grotto seems to be a favorite as well as some italian cuisine in the Golden State area of the park.

Go for storyteller cafe at the grand californian. It doesnt have the ambiance of BB but its a nice place with a buffet or you can order off the menue. Call Disney dining to book a table and enter through california adventure.

It depends on when you go. The best seat are by the lagoon. You have to reserve a table two to three weeks in advance. It's expensive, but it is good. I hope when you go the food is good!
