I'm probably going to go to Kings Dominion (Doswell, VA) this weekend. It's opening day is April 5, the day I am trying to go. I know this may seem stupid but I have severe anxiety and I get super paranoid about everything. I love roller coasters and thrill rides I'm just worried that they might not be safe the day it opens. I've heard that the opening day is when most accidents happen and people die and get seriously hurt. Is it safe to go on opening weekend? I'm really scared something might happen to my family and I. Am I just overreacting? Here is the kings dominion site if anyone needs it: https://www.kingsdominion.com/‎

I'm a ride attendant for a Six Flags Park. Before we ever touch the ride, maintenance must look at the systems and structure of the ride and sign it off as being inspected before opening. If it has not been inspected, we're not even allowed to do test cycles. We cycle each train 3 times before placing our supervisor in each train for a test ride. Afterwards we open it to the public. During closing, maintenance takes over again and makes sure that it is ready for the next day. This cycle continues.

You'll be absolutely fine. Since it's opening day, there would definitely be off season preventive maintenance done beforehand. The rides are safe, and all the attendants and operators should be ready.

WHERE did you "hear" that opening day is when the most accidents occur. I'm calling BS here. Opening day would be one of the safest days. All the training and safety info is fresh in the minds of the ride operators. They bring in experienced supervisors from the other parks to help things run smoothly. Your fears are unfounded, and I'm baffled as to why you're even asking this.

It's fine to go on opening day, the rides have to be inspected.
