The hotels owned by Disney are the best, but they are pricy and you have to book early they sell out fast. The place I have been staying off property is the Days inn on ball road at Disneyland Dr. Its a pretty small place, continental breakfast, which I have not had since I leave before it starts and head to the parks, Wi Fi included, pool easy to get to. I have an AP with parking so I never use the shuttles but this place is right by the entrance to the parking garage so its an easy drive for me. The city has shuttle service for a few bucks a day and stops near most of the motels/hotels, if you have 3 or more people I would just pay to park itll cost you about the same.

Yes - Disneyland is busy everyday of the week. Yes - It is safe to walk to the hotels & motels located close to Disneyland. Many directly across the street on Harbor Blvd. The streets are well lit at night. It is best to have reservations at a hotel since most if not all hotels are booked and your best prices are arranged in advance. There are tour pricing packages available although I dont know which are available. Also check the Disneyland website.

Gosh! Your options are almost limitless.

First, it depends on how much you want to spend. It can range anywhere from $65 - $365 per night. Be certain about what type of stay you want. Some people expect the Hyatt experience at a Travel Lodge price (both chains have a hotels in the vicinity).

Shuttle Options - I've found it much easier NOT to rely on a shuttle service, whether it's provided for by the Hotel, or by The Anaheim Resort Transit, because you need to apply to their schedule. So, typically, I choose a hotel that is right across the street so I can walk. There are exits from the Parks on the East, West & South. So, anything with-in a block is close.

Bikes - Of course, you can always bring your bikes with you, and lock them up right by the Security check points. We've done that before. The bikes are actually quite safe (even Disney employees lock up their bikes there). Why a bike? Well, you can venture to a hotel that is a couple of blocks away, and your only riding for 2-3 minutes (very fast).

Breakfast - Also, most hotels have some sort of breakfast - granted, most of those are rather pathetic (coffee and a cheap danish - you'd be better off going to the store and buying your own). There are (of course) other places to eat, but they charge a slight premium because their right next to the Parks.

Other Food - one other thing you may not have thought of, if you're trying to save on money, is that you can bring your own food into the Parks - with-in reason of course (Like no glass containers).

Otherwise, I always stay at a little cheap motel literally across the street - del Sol Inn, it's cheap and clean - plus they have those cheap danish!

If you're willing to spend the money, nothing beats the Grand Californian or the Disneyland Hotel, because staying there just adds to the whole Disney experience. They're both within walking distance (they have access to the monorail too, if you don't want to walk), though neither has continental breakfast.

But if not (which I can understand), I recommend checking out the Candy Cane Inn. It's actually a pretty nice hotel, and it has a complimentary shuttle to the park (even though the hotel is within walking distance) and continental breakfast. It also has a pool, if that's something you're interested in.

If you want to stay at the resort ( an actual Disney hotel)

the grand californian and disneyland hotel are nice.

If you are looking for something more affordable, the Hyatt on harbor blvd ( in garden grove) is a guest favourite.

it has a free shuttle, and AAA members get a voucher for each day for a menu breakfast ( meaning, no cold cereal and yoghurt buffet... they offer everything from waffles and strawberries to steak and eggs. and it's made just for you!) not to mention every room has a window that over looks the lobby and the staff will bend over backwards to accomidate you. the hotel has a pizza hut, starbucks and a well stocked gift shop.

rates are usually between 119.00 - 189.00 with advance booking and are cheaper with auto club.

Have a great trip!
