Which is best? Alton Towers or Thorpe Park?

Thorpe Park's coaster collection is superior to that of Alton Towers, but the overall park experience at Alton Towers is superior. This is mainly due to Thorpe Park's location near Heathrow Airport, which has planes constantly flying over the park and making noise. Also, because Thorpe Park is closer to a big populated area, you'll get a lot more "undesirables" coming there, such as chavs. Alton Towers also gets more park guests per year than Thorpe Park, if that helps.

It depends what sort of experience you're looking for, Alton Towers is best for families and people looking for a wide variety of rides, but Thorpe Park is best for thrill seekers because it has the most thrill rides and roller coasters.

They are both quite good but I would prefer Alton Towers 'cause it is MUCH bigger and it also has MUCH more rides than Thorpe Park. Good luck and have fun!
