Question:
Why is it people have such harsh feelings about the "It's a Small World" ride at Disney parks?
?

I know some people hate the song, but they never see the true purpose of the ride, like supporting world peace and etc. I know the lyrics may be annoying as well, but the Sherman Brothers wrote a wonderful song when they did it's a Small World's theme. I never looked at it negatively, because it's been one of my favorite rides at Disney because I ride it every visit. It hurts to see people write comments like "If they need room for the new stuff in Fantasyland, they should just tear down Small World." I just wish they could understand it's true meaning.

I really don't like it because it is very long. It is about 20 minutes of just the ride. All of the characters look the same and the environment has no texture. I don't like the bright colors in weird patterns when there is no texture to the ride. I think one of the biggest reasons I don't like it is because of all the other really great rides at disneyland. This ride doesn't seem as "theme" oriented. You know what I mean? Granted that is what they were going for, I'm just the kind of person who loves too look at the details and wonder how they did stuff with the lighting and the movements as in the case of Pirates of the Caribbean and Haunted Mansion (my favorite ride). There just isn't enough story and detail.

That is my reason anyway. The funny thing is Blaine Gibson, the sculptor of all the main characters on Pirates of the Caribbean and Haunted mansion (and countless other things), was also the sculptor of all the characters on Small world. After seeing his amazing talent and creativity, it just seems wasted on Small world where they all look the same and smooth.

However, I would not want them to tear it down. I think it is cool because it has been there so long and is a big part of Disneyland. THough I don't want to ride it, I think it should stay.

Well, the ride is long and the song is repetitive. There isn't much action during the ride. Most people want thrills and chills when visiting a theme park, not messages of "world peace" and singing dolls. Don't get me wrong, Small World is a classic ride and is a stable of Disney parks. Everyone should see it at least once.

Its a small world ride is a CLASSIC and it is a must do for every visitor at the disney parks. The thing is people who say they hate its a small world are just afraid of being a kid again and experiencing the magic of disney. And for the people who simply cant stand the ride, then just move on to big thunder mountain and don't spoil the magic for the rest of us.

i have no problem with the song at all. in fact i love it!

and i love the ride.

i understnad the meaning behind the song.

let those people make comments like that. it doesn't phase me and since its a small world is one o the most classic rides disney has there's no need to worry that they may take it out.

It's not a brand-new, exciting, super-thrill ride. That's why. People aren't amused every single second of their day, they get bored too easily.
