I can say with extreme confidence that you'll have an amazing time at Cedar Point, which has held the distinction of being named the "Best Amusement Park in the World" for the last 15 years. In the meantime, here are my favorite rides to help you pick those you want to ride the most.
Here are my top five favorite roller coasters at Cedar Point:
1. Millennium Force.
An uncontested favorite and the ultimate ride of Cedar Point, Millennium Force towers 310 feet in the air and reaches top speeds of 93 miles an hour. What can't I say about this coaster? It's incredibly smooth (especially for its opening year of 2000, hence the 'Millennium' portion of its name), and that can be rare on even newer coasters. It is my absolute favorite everywhere I have been (and I have been to more than a few amusement parks). There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that this is the best ride of this amusement park, and possibly amusement parks everywhere.
2. Maverick
Maverick has a lot of character. It isn't the largest coaster out there - far from it, really, but it packs a punch. This coaster doesn't just send you straight down - it sends you further, at a 95-degree angle. It soars along several interesting features, before encountering its 'surprise'. I won't ruin it for you - you'll have to ride it and see!
3. Top Thrill Dragster
At seventeen seconds, I was tempted to put Dragster further down this list. But that would be shortchanging it. As several microphone operators have said - Top Thrill Dragster has more rollbacks than Wal-Mart. You'd be extremely lucky to experience one of these rollbacks, but if one does happen, it should be amazing - and then you'll be launched again, without much time to process your last attempt. The tallest coaster in the park, Dragster's apex affords a wonderful view of Cedar Point - not that you'll be able to take it in before plunging four hundred feet back to earth!
4. GateKeeper
I actually haven't ridden this one yet, and it's only on my list now because I have heard some amazing things about it. GateKeeper opened with the 2013 season and is the park's newest attraction. Being what they call a Wing Coaster, the rider is not over the tracks. In fact, the rider is suspended from one of the sides, with nothing above and nothing below. As such, I am told that it feels a bit like flying.
5. Magnum XL-200
Magnum is an old classic. Opened in 1989, this coaster is nearing its 25th anniversary. But that doesn't mean this coaster has slowed down. The third tallest coaster in the park, Magnum might be a bit rougher than the other four, but it has a thrill like no other. The first coaster to exceed 200 feet in height, beginning a trend that would continue with Millennium Force, the first coaster to exceed 300 feet, and Top Thrill Dragster, the first coaster to exceed 400 feet, Magnum is definitely not one to miss.
Non-coaster attractions
1. maXair
One of only two Giant Frisbees in existence (the other being Delirium at Kings Island), maXair also holds the distinction of being the only one of the two to still take a round-trip, upside down and all.
2. Skyhawk
A Screamin' Swing, Skyhawk packs a pretty large punch for not being a coaster. While it doesn't provide thrills quite on-par with maXair, Skyhawk is still a nice ride. Because (as of today), only one of Skyhawk's two arms are in operation, it's best to try to find a quieter time of the day to ride this - though Cedar Point in the peak of its operation is never truly quiet.
I hope this helps - and I hope you have an amazing time at Cedar Point, America's Roller Coast!
